Give me your views on Globarena! On listening, vocabulary, grammar, reading or any other parts you viewed. What accent English did you hear in the listening section? The region? Were the activities graded - from simple to complex? Give a critical feedback about the materials.
Globarena is ok in parts but no video sharing!

ReplyDeleteThe contents of the software are listening comprehension, fundamental language skills, communication skills, vocabulary, phonetics, conversations. it had the resources like expression, imitation, auto speak, college resources and assesments.
in communication language skills, vocabulary and conversation. it had various exercises from the level of simple to complex. it also had the hangman out game through which the exact vocabulary is expected from the user. in language skills i found the use of vegetables and their calories to make salads and so on; where the user is allowed to connect with real life situation and involve too much with the part of conversation exercise so that the meaning and purpose of the software to teach the user and the purpose is derived.
The software is installed so that the editing and also downloading from the software is not possible. It can be used only within the language lab where it is installed.

ReplyDeleteGlobarena as we saw the previous day has several exercises in vocabulary, listening skills, communication skills and others. In vocabulary section I did some crosswords puzzles. I also did some communication oriented exercises like checking the pronunciation of certain words. We even had the option of listening to the correct pronunciation.
ReplyDeleteI found the globarena as extremely useful for a language learner. As it has exercises it will be interesting for the learner.

ReplyDeleteGlobarena aids to have a better understanding in the acquisition of English language. Globarena uses the process of language acquisition methods like Listening,Speaking, Reading and Writing. I started with my favourite listening and speaking part in globarena "phonetics". In phonetics there is brief study of phonetic signs and audio recordings with dialogues .The accent used throughout the dialogue seemed to me like native speaker's from britain. Interesting part is that there was some exercises and quizzes, which was awesome. Then I moved on to the vocabulary section which puzzled alot. With many games like crossword puzzles, quizzes vocabulary section kept on scrutinizing my knowledge in vocabulary . Thereafter, I chose the grammar section which was too informative. The grammar section had almost all the areas of grammar with puzzles and quizzes. Especially the error correction puzzle was interesting. One of the specific feature of Globarena is that on taking quizzes and puzzles the software automatically gives exact points and grades. The materials given in Globarena software is authentic and easy to understand. The gaming part like quizzes acts as the main positive feature of globarena software, because it makes learning interesting by playing. Globarena software creates space and time for students in building up their confidence in understanding and using "English" language effectively.On the negative side I found one particular option with exercises not working in the software.

Commonly confused word I mostly worked that day which is very useful for competitive exams even though very simple word sometimes we couldn’t recollect the spelling. I personally feel I am weak in spelling area that’s why I too worked in the commonly confused word. I want more excise this kind of activities.

Globarena software is used for English language teaching. Language laboratory uses this software for beginners. Learners can also download the software to check their proficiency in vocabulary. The software has resources and assessments. Content covers listening comprehension, fundamental language skills, communication skills, vocabulary, phonetics and conversations. I found really interesting to go through the vocabulary and phonetics. Under phonetics there are contents which cover some important elements of learning language such as diphthongs, intonation, and syllable etc. These are explained with examples. This is useful not only for beginners but also for proficient to enhance their skill and knowledge.

In vocabulary section one can learn new words and practice a large number of areas of English vocabulary and have fun as well. It has games like word puzzles, flash, spelling and typing, word drop game, hangman which can carry one’s attention towards vocabulary. Learners can challenge themselves individually by playing those games.
Globarena helps to work on communication skills which includes activities and games on grammar,vocabulary,writing,reading and listening.I checked few on vocabulary and it was good and informative.It included cross words,word traps,beastly words,stinging words etc. Reading session included passages,pictures and some of the activities were based on tables.From these things we have to find the answers to the question which was also quit interesting.I tried to explore the speaking part the software will play an audio and the listener has to replay it with correct pronunciation.Unfortunately the mike was not working so that I could not work on that.But I found that as the most interesting activity because it will help us to know the level of our pronunciation. Globarena also provides a course on fundamental language skills which will help the beginners for a task based language learning.It was nice to play and learn with Globarena.

As a first time-user I was interested to know how it will be and what kind of questions it may contain, so all sort of questions were rattling in the mind. I chose reading skill, first a passage has been given for the reading then synonyms exercise which evaluates the ground understanding of the passage and then rearranging the sentences, antonyms which was really interesting and also I was learning in a partial manner. ReplyDeleteGlobarena - the software to be used in language labs worked well. It took me into the world of testing my self. To be exact learning through testing. Of the LSRW skills except speaking I checked out everything else. I couldn't work on Speaking due to the mike problem. I was pulled towards hangman and phonetics components.I tested my language efficiency using crossword game. I played well and learnt well. Learning was progressive through globarena by the preselected materials. Thank you for introducing me to globarena ma'am. And yea finally well explored the Globarena! The accent seemed an Indian's tongue trained well with that of British 's.
ReplyDeleteGlobarena is a software meant for the overall language development of an individual. As, it bounded with listening, reading, writing(typing), vocabulary exercises and sample exercises in regards with job such as interviews, group discussion, oral presentation ans also separate chapter for phonetics help in the full fledged development of the language in all aspects. Globarena! It is an interesting and useful course material. As we were asked to conduct interviews, I listened to interview session follwed by exercises. It was graded with simple to complex activities as catch the missing word, choose the correct/ best answer and type while listen. I could answer the questions easily as the language was simple and understandable. It enhance language learning as the user can access to it as many as time he/ she wishes. On the whole I wish to make use of the software for moulding my language skills. Thank you mam for introducing this course material to me.
